Hello Bad A$$ & Brilliant!
First, let’s start with a riddle – What do Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a four-leaf clover, and good grammar have in common? The month of March! Women’s History Month, St. Patrick’s Day, and National Grammar Day all happen this month.
What else happens this month? Our community focuses on the “What Is Your Irresistible Value Proposition?” portion of the Every Day Is Friday: ACTT Blueprint for Leaders & Entrepreneurs. Whether you work for yourself or someone else, it’s crucial that we, as leaders, can share the value we provide to those who matter most.
My friend Carol Boston says, “Leadership is sales, and sales is Leadership. So, either you’re enrolling someone in your vision, or someone is enrolling you in theirs.”
The challenge is when we forget our value or stop owning our power; it can result in unmet expectations costing us time, energy, money, and, more importantly, our disappointment. For example, I could tell you the best value proposition in the world, and if I say it without confidence, the message won’t be received very well.
We work against ourselves when we use disempowering language like “need to” versus “get to”. As you think through your value proposition, remember that when we don’t keep our word to ourselves, we break self-trust. Self-trust is at the root of confidence. We can have the best value proposition in the world, but if we don’t have confidence, people can feel that. More importantly, it’s worth looking at why we are breaking down trust in ourselves in the first place.
What is a Value Proposition? A value proposition communicates the benefit you or your team delivers to your customers. For example, how well can you answer, “I support (insert your customer or ideal customer) with (an outcome they want) without (a fear that they have)”. For example “I support business leaders with reducing operating expenses while keeping their best employees.”
You can also start a value proposition with a question. For example, “Are you a leader without a formal business background? If so, it might feel like a tightrope without a safety net. This value proposition points to the pain that the person I am trying to influence faces.
I prefer to write a value proposition with a powerful question pointing to a possibility. For example, “Wouldn’t it be cool if your teams showed up energized, excited, and eager to collaborate so that together they not only anticipated your needs, but they also anticipated the needs of your culture and, most importantly, your customers?”
Metaspire is a boutique management consulting firm. We keep companies profitable, productive, and in their prime so that the best employees and customers stay for a lifetime (hey, that rhymes). Let’s make every day feel fun & fulfilling – like a Friday!
CHALLENGE OF THE DAY
What one thing that I am, or my team is not doing today that if I or we were to do, the people we serve would understand how much value I/we can provide? Put your answers in our what’s app chat!
Since 2019 I’ve had the honor of working with Tamara Chase, who started in our membership program and graduated from our team transformation program. Tamara increased her revenue by 174%, has a cohesive team, and works around 5 hours weekly. Yay Tamara!
If you have a success story from our community, let me know, it fosters more self-appreciation, uplifts our community and I’d love to celebrate with you!
I am just a phone call away, or text or what’s app. You pick.
